We are church receives Integration prize 2017 from the Foundation Apfelbaum – since 1989 partners for a growing together of worlds
The Movement We Are Church has won the Integration Award 2017, from the Foundation Apfelbaum – together with Prof. Günter Hegele of the Evangelical academics profession in Germany.
Founded in 1989, the charitable foundation Apfelbaum www.stiftung-apfelbaum.de promotes long-term and applied initiatives for community growth and development.
The reasons for the award to We are Church include:
“The Foundation gives you the Integration Award 2017
– for your persistent development and perseverance of the internationally networked Movement We Are Church and
– for your empathic and creative proposals for reforms in your own Catholic Church, but also for your yes to the Reformation 500 years ago and to a reconciled Diversity of Christians in ecumenical spirit. ”
We are Church sees itself at this price in very good company. Hans Küng and OikoCredit were first prize winners in 1996. Other laureates and winners include: Eugen Drewermann, Alice Schwarzer, Rupert Neudeck, Monika Hauser, Richard Schröder, Karl-Josef Kuschel, Tilman Zülch and last Lamya Kaddor. Among the organizers, among others, Amnesty International, the Reconciliation Service for Peace, the Terre des Femmes, the MSF, the OSCE, the Nes Ammim in Israel.
The Integration Award 2017 as well as the regular support by the Foundation Apfelbaum in their funding priority “convergence of religions” has long been an incentive for us and now in the beginning of this Anniversary Year of Reformation will spur us on to continue our work for a more integrated world.
